Short Course Offered
The annual Garden Lovers' Short Course will be held at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg Aug. 1-4, Dr. Paul L. Smeal associate Extension horticulturist at the university, announced today. “All persons interested in gardening are invited to attend said Smeal. “The registration fee is $3. Rooms in Virginia Tech dormitories are $1.50 per person per night, with two in each room. Meals are avail able in the university dining halls. Dormitory accommodations are available for married couples.” O. Keister Evans Jr. of Co lumbus, Ohio, executive secretary of the American Ro6e Society, will be visiting lecturer. Virginia Tech staff members will give other lectures and conduct workshops. Care of house plants, interior decoration with plants, flower arrangements, plant propagation, pruning and main tenance, home vegetable production and landscaping will be among the subjects to be covered. Tours of the university’s trial gardens, greenhouses and the arboretum will also be made by those attending. A picnic will’be held Wednesday Aug. 3 in the arboretum.
