it seems tnat on pamng, and debarking, Capt. Stuart immediately discovered that the left rear tire on his station wagon had gone flat. So after removing the chairs, table, stools, food, etc., the next move was to get out the spare wheel and make the usual preparations for changing a tire. Like many of us, Lion Stuart had not seen his spare tire in many moons, thus, on removing it from its hiding place he bounced it on the ground to test its worthiness. With that bounce the wheel took off down the hill and Lion Stuart running after it, each increasing speed with every revolution and every step. It quickly became evident that the cause was lost, and with Lion Stuart laughing at the ludicrousness of the situation and Mrs. Stuart shouting at him to stop running, and nobody else to enjoy the scene, the wheel continued merrily on its way. It jumped a*barbed wire fence and disappeared into the trees well down the steep slope. Shortly thereafter, but too late to applaud the race, Lions Raymond Johnson, Sears Raymond and Harry Lee Smith with others, arrived. With the doughty Forest Warden in the lead, a search and recovery party was formed, which located and retrieved the errant wheel. The posse declared that if the wheel had not hit the trees, it would be rolling yet, and anyone who has been on top of Old Red Oak will agree. The excitement over, the wheel was properly installed and the picnic proceeded otherwise undisturbed. The year 1967 will mark the Golden Anniversary of Lions International, commemorating fifty years of outstanding achievement in the annals of international friendship and humanitarian service, and Rap pahannock Lions will Join in the special activities concerned with the anniversary.
