Fresh Corn Flown
To England
A trial shipment of Virginia sweet corn on the cob has been airfreighted to England, according to the Virginia Department of Agriculture, and represents the first such airshipment ever made from Virginia overseas. A department spokesman believes that the shipment, which left Kennedy International Airport last Thursday, will prove economically feasible because of favorable airline rates on fresh fruits and vegetables. The corn was grown by Curtis Jone§, who operates Cherokee Farms of Franktown, and shipped by M. J. Duer & Co. of Exmore.
