Sales of electric power by the investor-owned electric companies in Virginia during the first six months of 1966 increased 10.4 per cent over the same period in 1965. Total sales, according to the Public Utilities Association of the Virginias, for the six months were 8.5 billion kilowatt hours. Of the various groups of customers, the use of electricity in the home and on the farm showed the greatest increase. Sales to these customers exceeded 3 billionkilowatthours for an increase of 10.8 per cent over 1965. The commercial and industrial customers used 4.8 billion kwhs for an increase of 10.1 per cent. The “all other* customers used 646 million kwhs, for street and highway lighting, lighting and cooling public buildings, as well as for other public purposes. This represents an increase of 10.2 per cent in sales for the period.
