McHenry began his Park Service career in iyou as a Park Ranger at Colonial National Historical Park, Virginia. In 1961, he was trans ferred to Washington, D.C., as a Park Naturalist at the Rock Creek Nature Center, moving to Grand Canyon Na tional Park, Arizona, in 1963 and to Big Bend the next year McHenry has been- active in civic affairs at Big Bend. He is serving his second term as President of,the Lions Club and is a member of the school board. He also is affiliated with the Ecological Society of America, AmericanOrnithc logists Union, and Sigma Xi science honorary. McHenry’s wife, Martha, is a native of Boston. They have three chil dren — Keith, 9; Bruce, 7;and Martha, 2. The McHenryswill arrive in mid-August and will live in the residential area at Park Headquarters east of Luray.
