Report Two Crashes
Involving Animals
Two traffic crashes involving vehicles and animals have been reported by Trooper P.P. Dicks. On Saturday at 6:15 p.m. on Route 231 three and a half miles south of Sperryville a car struck a cow. Glen Leo Cave of Boston traveling south struck an Angus cow owned by Mrs. Mabel B. Gore. There were no injuries and damage to Cave’s 61 Chevrolet was estimated at $100. The cow, however, did not fare too well, she died. The following day, Sunday, shortly past noon, Mrs. Mildred Virginia Jenkins ofj Sperryville struck a deer on1 Route 522, two miles north of: Flint Hill. Mrs. Jenkins was heading south when a spike buck jumped from the west bank of the highway into the path of her vehicle. The animal was killed. Neither Mrs. Jenkins nor her children riding with her were injured. Game Warden Irvin Kenyon, Jr. assisted Trooper Dicks at the scene.
