Clement Maggia, 74, of White Sulphur Springs, W. Va. died December 6, 1967 at Georgetown n Hospital, Washington, D. C. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Abbie Maggia; a daughter, Mrs. Laura McLean of Amissville, Va.; a brother, Theo of Piney Point, Md.; four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
Mr. Maggia was an internationally known pastry chef who designed and baked the cake for Lynda Johnson’s wed ding reception. He was a caterer in Washington in the 1930’s and founder of a pastry shop there. Since 1962 he had been at the Greenbriar in White Sulphur Springs. He was born in Italy and came to this country in 1909. In 1954 he represented the United States in the Culinary Olympics in Switzerland, winning the grand prize for his decorated cake and several gold medals. A funeral service was held Saturday and entombment was in Cedar Hill Mausoleum.
