Soc. Security Notes
You have heard or read a number of so-called facts about Social Security lately. Mrs. Hazel F. Daly, District Manager expressed the opinion that this is a good indication that people are becoming more aware of the social security program and its impact on their lives. A program affecting nine out of every ten working people in the United States today deserves more than a cursory thought. Our older citizens have been more concerned and availed themselves of the information available through the district office. It seems that medicare had a beneficial side effect of making many people interested in finding out what the social security program meant to them. They suddenly relized it would be prudent to find out what protection they had in the event of retirement, death, or disability.
Many younger people, who ordinarily would not give social security a thought until they needed to apply, are now asking for information. Young families are orienting their other protection against disability or death around their social security protection. Because social security is a compulsory insurance program it is a protection many workers need,
