Public schools in Rappahannock County will open on Tuesday, August 27, for the 1968-69 school session.
Classes will be dismissed at 2 p.m. on opening day but school will be on a full day schedule on Wednesday, August 28. Monday, September 2, will be observed as a holiday.
A Principals’ Conference for the division will be held on August 16 at the E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School and the Division Conference for all professional personnel will be held at the Morrison School on Tliursday, August 22. Mr. James H. Gay-Lord, Supervisor of Educational Television, Virginia State Department of Education, will address the conference on “Improving Instruction Through Television”. New teachers will report to their schools on August 20 and all teachers will be in their respective schools on August 21.
School buses will operate over their same routes as last year with minor exceptions and slight changes in time due to consolidation. Children who have previously walked to the Washington and Sperryville Schools will be provided transportation to the Rappahannock Elementary School. Bus stops for these children will be the same as for high school students. Cafeterias will operate in all schools on opening day. The faculty for both schools in the County are listed as follows:
