in Biloxi. The next day we Went to the beach and that night I took a tour of one of the barracks at Keesler Air Force Base.
Second Day - Went to the beach again and made mud forts. We also made a visit to the Jefferson Davis Shrine which was most interesting.
Third Day - Beach again -I’ll be a little suntanned when I return home.
Fourth Day - Oh, this was very exciting - a boat tour between Biloxi and Deer Island and past a shrimp factory. The Captain of the boat told a most interesting story about an old man who went to Deer Island to escape the last of his nine wives. The reason for his going away was that his last wife was always hounding him for money. Another story about Deer Island is Grandma Oakley, who had 14 boys and after they were grown she adopted several others. She had a turtle pen and at one time there were 8000 turtles which she sold for turtle soup. She died at the age of 100 - Grandma Oakley that is.
Bonfires in Biloxi are great for picnics and such - I talked to a man who said the pier had been rebuilt four times due to the fact that people just tear them down for a fire on the beach.
We arrived on Tuesday night at Dulles Airport after a wonderful time but it sure was hot down there.
