The social security amendments of 1967 raise from $1500 to $1680 the amount of total earnings a social security beneficiary may have in a year without any of his benefits being withheld, Haze) F. Daly, District Manager in Winchester, announced today.
She pointed out that this new' provision applies to all monthly beneficiaries under age 72 but not to any person who is receiving benefits because he is disabled. (Special rules with medical considerations must be applied when people who are receiving benefits because of their disability return to work.)
No benefits will be withheld from a beneficiary if his earnings are no more than $1680 in 1968. If total earnings exceed $1680, $1 is withheld from benefits for each $2 of earnings between $1680 and $2880; above $2880, $1 in benefits is withheld for each $1 of earnings.
