and the West Virginia line, except for two sections between Roanoke and Bristol where nearly all of US 11 is divided. Three miles of US 11 on the Christiansburg end are three lane and this will be used until the interstate north of US 11 is completed. TTie entire 14.5 miles there is all under contract for grading, with completion of the road to come about 1971.
When these segments art completed, the 325-mile no-stop boulevard will have cost about that many millions of dollars since the first projects were completed at Bristol and in Pulaski and Wythe Counties in 1960 and 1961.
With the opening of the Staunton bypass and an 1-81 project of 2.5 miles east of Wytheville about September 1, Virginia will have more than 640 miles completed out of a network of 1,060 miles. The 640-plus miles will have cost more than 580 million, not including right of way.
The interstate is financed by 90 percent Federal tax funds and 10 percent State tax funds.
