Amissville Firemen will open their annual carnival next Wednesday, August 21 and it will continue through Saturday night, August 24. Features of the f ou r - n ight event include fireworks, a parade, crowning of a queen and awarding of prizes Good food will be available each evening as well as much fun anc excitement, entertainment, game; and rides.
A brilliant display of firework: is scheduled for Wednesday evening. The grand parade set foi 6:30 p.m. Thursday will include bands, floats, fire and rescue equipment, marching units, majorettes, beauty queens and all that is to be found in parade lineup. A box supper will be available on the grounds following the parade and in addition there will be hot dogs, hamburgers, coffee, drinks, cake, etc.
A queen will be crowned Friday evening from among six contestants who are Debbie Poe, Nancy Sheffield, Jane Mills, Beverley Stringfellow, Linda Smoot and Martha Settle. The grand prize to be given away Saturday is a 1968 Rambler American. Second prize is a portable television and there are four additional prizes, each of a $25 Savings Bond. The members of the Junior Fire Company are giving away a mini trail bike and a stereo will be given away in connection with the queen contest.
