According to Mrs. Hazel F. Crumpton, District Manager of the Winchester, Va. Social Security Office, answering questions of a general nature in a newspaper column has been useful in clearing up many questions for our readers. Hence, some important ones are reprinted today.

Q. I will have earned almost $10,000 by the time I retire on July 31st of this year. Will I be able to receive any social security checks for 1969?
A. Yes. You can get payments for the months of August through December if during those months, you earn wages of less than $140 a month and are not actively self-employed.
Q. I'll be 72 in July 1969, and plan to continue working. I’ve been told I’ll be able to get my social security checks then. Is this true?
A. Yes. You will get monthly checks beginning with the month of your 72nd birthday regardless of your earnings after your birthday. However, your earnings for the entire year will be counted in determining whether any benefits can be paid to you for the months of this year before your 72nd birthday.
Q. I am a college student receiving monthly checks on my deceased father’s social security record. If I work during the summer, will I be able to get my social security checks?
