Joe McDaniel, retiring treasurer, reported that Christmas Seal campaign receipts for 1968 were $43,065 for an increase of $1,488 over last year.
Retiring president Earle W. Hoffman reported that the association has five areas of emphasis. The first is tuberculosis, and Virginia ranks near the top in the nation in number of new and reactivated cases, he said. Another area is respiratory disease.
A third is an education program on cigarette smoking. The association is also concerned with air conservation.
Volunteers recognized were Mrs. Lillian K. Lewis of Front Royal, 506'/2 hours; Miss Doris Showers, Front Royal, 207 hours; Miss Carol Ann Phillips, Front Royal, 43 hours. Clubs volunteering 50 or more hours to the association were Front Royal Home Demonstration Club, 222V2 hours; Luray Chapter, American Association of Retired People, 160 hours; Teen Age Club, Winchester, 73 hours; and Elks Club, Winchester, 70 hours.
