Mrs. Preston Moore of Wood berry Forest and Ray Snead of Washington, Va. and Charlottesville were the victors in the annual Labor Day Mixed Doubles Whistle Cup Tennis Tournament held Monday on the court at Piedmont Farm, Sperryville, home of Mr. and Mrs. N. K. G. Tholand. Mrs. Tholand and son Jens were the losers in the finals match. Competition began Sunday on three different courts: at the home of Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Parrish, Viewtown; Judge and Mrs. R. V. Snead, Washington and at Tholand’s. Six couples entered the semi-finals Monday morning and Mrs. Moore and Mr. Snead captured the cups. The Moore family has more than one accomplished athlete for Alice Moore, daughter of the winner took the cup in 1968.
