Swimming class members gather around instructors Paul Nichols and Mrs. William Hargett to receive certificates and awards. The classes concluded Saturday with a picnic and games at the carnival grounds in Flint Hill. These classes were the first opportunity for many of the children to have any instruction in swimming. The instructors described the classes as very satisfactory with children in all stages, and some, afraid to get their faces wet in the beginning, advancing to actual swimming.
