A host of traffic crashes have occurred in the past week with varying degrees of personal injury and damage. However, Rappahannock County saw no fatal crashes during the final summer holiday weekend when the state experienced 22 and national total was 609.
Trooper P. P. Dicks investigated a single vehicle crash near Mills Store at Estes on Route 729 Saturday night. A 1964 Chevrolet half ton pickup owned by Brue Settle overturned in the road. The driver was not at the scene when the officer arrived and investigation is incomplete. The truck was a total loss.
Friday, August 29 about 6:30 p.m. a mile west of Slate Mills on Route 707 David Clyde Kiblerof Culpeper sustained slight injuries in a single vehicle crash. Kibler had lacerations of the face after he lost control of his 1969 Chevrolet, ran off the right of the road, crossed back to the left and struck the bank, according to Trooper J. B. Willis. Damage to the car was estimated at $1,500 and the operator was charged with reckless driving.
