Sperryville citizens involved is the fact that the Water Authority has such dictatorial powers and aggressive means of action. For instance, should the public system not become solvent or self sustaining, the Authority could assess these involved homeowners to make up the deficiency and get judgment against their property if they failed to ante-up. In such event the owner has no alternative.
The group of citizens feels that all possible means of rectifying the pollution situation should be explored before any direct action is made or grant accepted. Many feel a more conservative cost is possible for a system of some type since the present figures have no positive basis. It has not been ascertained even what size line should be run for the system.
Culpeper Hospital Has
Service Program
The Board of Directors of Culpeper Memorial Hospital has approved a community service program designed to help local industries to cope with the problem of industrial injuries.
Upon request, the hospital’s Emergency Room Supervisor will visit community industries to present a course in basic first aid to foremen and other key personnel and establish procedures designed to increase the effectiveness of services in those industrial injuries requiring hospital care.
The hospital’s administrator, J. S. Markham, stated that the program was initiated by the hospital due to the frequency of h»dustrial injuries and because of our belief that the role of a community hospital should involve the health and welfare of the entire community.
