Miss Mary Hunter Wood became the bride of David Morris Altus on Saturday, August 9, 1969 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The marriage was solemnized at twelve o’clock noon in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Jerome Kleber performed the double-ring ceremony before an altar decorated with baskets of white gladioli.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Wood of Las Cruces, New Mexico, former residents of Rappahannock County. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Altus of Sheridan, Oregon.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a formal gown of white satin in Empire mode with small satin bows accenting the front waistline. It was designed with long tapered sleeves and a full chapel train. Her elbow-length veil of white silk illusion was attached to a small rosette of petals and seed pearls. t5he carried a cascade bouquet of white pompon chrysanthemums and greenery. For “something old”, the bride wore a cameo and pearl necklace which had belonged to her great-grandmother.
Mrs. Glenn Binns of Albuquerque was her sister’s matron of honor. Other bridal attendants were Miss Barbara Pugh and Mrs. Jim Sparger. They were attired in floor-length Empire gowns of aqua crepe with
