Rappahannock County’s economy continued moving forward during the past year according to a report on the nation’s markets, just released.
Significant gains were chalked up in the local trading area as consumers, with more money at their command, indulged in large-scale spending.
The amount that they spent in the area, and what it meant for local retail merchants, are brought out in Sales Management’s new “Survey of Buying Power.”
The copyrighted report presents data on income and spending for every section of the country.
It shows that Rappahannock County residents had net spendable earnings in the year, after payment of their personal income taxes, of $8,096,000, as compared with the previous year’s $7,110,000.
Just how much this represented, on a per-family basis, was determined by dividing the total income by the number of local households. It amounted, on average, to $5,783.
