A proposed change on the trapping season would make the season on mink, muskrat, opossum, and raccoon from December 1 through the last day in February. The season had previously been until March 10.
There is proposed a season on pheasants statewide. It would be for the third Monday in November and the day following. That would be the first two days of our regular season this side of the Blue Ridge. You could take one cock bird a day and they would have to be checked by a checking station or game warden. The reasoning is that as with turkey gobblers, the male birds can be cut down without affecting reproduction next Spring. It is also hoped by checking the birds killed some data as to age, reproduction, etc. can be obtained.
Raccoon season wil) remain the same in Rappahannock. It was hoped that a proposal would be made to get our season to match that of Madison and Fauquier. Hopefully, next year the coon season can be made the same for
