The students are given an opportunity to drive on a variety of roads in a variety of conditions thus increasing their driving knowledge and skill. For additional expenses the program incurs, the state pays the local school board $40.00 per student completed. So really the whole program costs the county little or nothing. And, in many instances, it makes the difference between someone’s son or daughter being an alive, safe driver or another number added to the state’s list of traffic fatalities.
