County May Loose

Blood Prgram

Fauquier and Rappahannock counties have been warned they may be dropped from participation in the Regional Blood Center program. The National Red Cross has placed the two units on probation and may soon refuse to send bloodmobiles and blood supplies from the regional center if the local chapter continues to donate less than its quota of blood.

W. W. Parkinson, chairman of the two-county Red Cross chapter, relayed this warning to the volunteers at a recent meeting held in Warrenton.

Figures indidate that should the chapter be removed from the program, the cost of blood to hospital recipients would be as much as 400 percent higher since the only alternative would be to purchase it from commercial blood banks.

It is hoped that in future visits from the Bloodmobile the quotas will be met.
