The bill which was passed by he House of Delegates luthorizing localities to grant tax •xemption to persons 65 years of ige, meeting certain •equirements, has now been ipproved by the Senate. This bill does not make it mandatory for the local boards of supervisors to take this action but merely grants them the authority to do so.

The bill approved by the House of Delegates authorizing localities to tax on the basis of use rather than fair market value, real estate used for agriculture, horticulture, forest and open space is still being considered by the Senate.

Several resolutions have been offered in both the House of Delegates and the Senate calling for a complete study of Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Another bill has been offered in the Senate which would give the State Corporation Commission control over the premiums charged by Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The Governor has also recommended that a study be made of this subject. It is anticipated that some definite action will be taken by this session of the legislature along these lines.
