Miss Joanne van Brederode became the bride of Bob

Miss Joanne van Brederode became the bride of Bob Lee Weakley on Saturday, February 13, 1971 in the Flint Hill Methodist Church. The Rev. Jerry Campbell performed the double-ring ceremony at ten o’clock in the morning.

The bride is the daughter of Mary S. van Brederode of Blue Rock Farm, Washington, Virginia. The bridegroom is the nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jenkins, also of Washington.

Mrs. Robert van Brederode of Baytown, Texas, sister-in-law of the bride, was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Gloria Harris of Washington, D.C. Vocal selections included “God, My Shepherd,” J. S. Bach; “When I Think Upon Thy Goodness,” J. Hayden; “0 Perfect Love/’ a hymn arranged by J. Barnby and “The Lord’s Prayer,” A. H. Matotte.

The bride was given in marriage by her brothers, Dr. Robert van Brederode of Baytown, Texas and Richard van Brederode of North Plainfield, New Jersey. She wore a princess style gown of white peau de soie designed with long sqt-io .sleeves and a. -short train. Appliques of Venice lace re-embroidered with seed pearls trimmed the skirt and bodice of the gown. She wore her sister’s chapel veil of silk illusion edged with matching Venice lace which was attached to a pillbox headpiece. She carried a white Bible, a gift of the bridegroom, and a spray of white orchids. Her pearl necklace belonged to her maternal grandmother. Mrs. Raymond Pawlocki was matron of honor for her sister. She wore an ankle length gown designed with a turquoise velvet skirt and white silk blouse with bishop sleeves. Her cascade bouquet was of pink and white carnations and white chrysanthemums framed with tulle and lace in colors to match her gown.
