Residents of Rappahannock! County who are beginning to look | at their 1970 expense figures, in | preparation for their forthcoming j Federal income tax reports, can, now tell how closely their personal j deductions compare with the! average. Have they been giving more money to charity than most people in their income brackets do, or less? Are their deductible medical expenses above average? Arei their local tax deductions higher?

For taxpayers to know what is normal in the way of deductions would be of considerable benefit to

[them.

Some guidance along this line is provided by the Commerce Clearing House, national authority on business and tax law, for people in each income bracket. Their findings are based upon Treasury Department figures.

They show that most families in the United States that have gross incomes of the size reported by the average family in Rappahannock County list deductions of $1,900, equal to approximately 20 percent of their total earnings.
