While the payment for the land surface rights involved may be equivalent to the land value, is the company willing to pay for the ravage beyond the 100 foot line? Certainly not.
Were only the surface of the land involved perhaps I would get my moneys worth. But the effect of the line on radio and tv reception as well as the visual obstruction extend much beyond the 50 feet on each side.
One must consider that the company is preparing to pay for a right of way for 50 feet on each side while the territory coming under the influence of hovering wires is not so confined. Neither is it so precise in its effect on the environment.
The company proposes to pay for 50 feet on each side. Potomac Edison has written to me for the first time proposing what they would do to my property. The offer was turned down. For a penny and a half per square foot it just isn’t worth it.
