“These arrangements need not be dull,” Miss Habel encouraged homemakers. “Unlike those of a few years ago, when most dry arrangements were of dried ferns and seed heads, today’s arrangements are composed of dried summer flowers with colors as brilliant as the day they came out of the garden,” she said.
“Flower colors can be preserved by hanging them upsfde down in a dry, dark closet,” Miss Habel said. “But, that is just one of several methods of perserving flowers.
“The upside down method suits many of the spiky summer flowers. They should be gathered shortly before they reach full bloom. Then in small bunches, they should then be hung upside down in a dark, dry, warm closet or room,” explained the extension specialist.
