Prog’m at Avon Hall
The lake in front of Avon Hall on old Route 211 in the Town of Washington will again glow with luminaries for the celebration of Independence Day, 1971.
"The public is invited to share this most important day in our country’s history”, said W. M. Carrigan. “The spacious hills by the county court house and near the road will accommodate those attending the program. Parking will be possible on Gay Street and on the old highway.” Entrance to the grounds may be gained through the town marker lot on Gay Street. Ladies of Hopewell Baptist Church, Sperryville will serve sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken accompanied by lots of cold drinks. The food concession will be near the town marker.
