award. Aid and Attendance benefits for veterans under the new law will be $110.00 additioinal to their monthly pension. Those under the old pension law will be increased to a $125.00 monthly rate. Widows will realize $55.00 more per month over their pension awards. Edwin L. Pomeroy, of the Front Royal Office of the Division of War Veterans’ Claims, is in Washington at the Clerk’s Office on 1st and 3rd Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and will gladly give more details on this subject or any other matter connected with veteran’s affairs.

A telephone call to the social security office is a good first step. The office can answer your questions and tell you how to apply and when to do it. Often, your claim can be taken by telephone and sent to you for signature.
When you apply bring your social security card or a record ol your social security number, proof of your age, and your last year’s income tax withholding statement. (If you are self employed, bring a copy of Iasi year’s income tax return anc evidence of payment of the self employment tax.)
If your wife also is applying foi benefits, she should bring evidence of her age and her socia security card or a record of hei number if she has one.
