Charles Hunter and a friend of New York City were guests Friday of his sister, Mrs. Margaret Freeman. Her Sunday guests included Mrs. Mary Hicks and children, Mr. Mack, Betty Ann Pointer and Pete Gatewood, all of Washington, D. C. Jackie Hicks remained for a two weeks’ visit with his aunt, Mrs. Freeman.

Forestry Practice
So far this year 5 farmers in Rappahannock County have received approval for forestry practices under the Rural Environmental Assistance Program (REAP). “On the average, in a year’s time our County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee approves cost-sharing for establishing or improving about 100 acres of woodland,” said H. S. Barksdale, ASC Committee Chairman. This year we hope to increase the acreage. The need for wood products is growing at a rapid pace. Properly established and maintained, farm woodland acres add to the production of lumber and pulpwood and at the same time help improve ecological balance and improve the total environment.
