The Fauquier Stepettes were judged the best majorette group while the Manassas Toppettes were second. The Blossomettes had the best drum and bugle corps with the Assembly placing second and the Stars of Shenandoah were named best band in line of parade.
The Virginia Division of Forestry with Smoky Bear was deemed best float while John’s Barbershop, Sperryville was second. The Moonshine Boys were the best comic entry with the High Bikes next. Tutweiler Brothers received a prize for their antique car.
The W. T. Woodson Precisionettes were named the best marching unit, and they were precise, while the Loudoun County Marionettes placed second. Carolyn Glascock of Amissville was judged best Honorary Fire Chief and in the number two spot was Donna Mitchem. Individual majorette judged best was Diane Young, and Sharon Beach, “Miss Fauquier,” received a prize as best county queen. \
