A 30 pound muskellunge was hoisted from the waters of Smith Mountain Lake by J. L. Vedder of Gretna to raise by one pound the record for that species. Carl Higginbotham of Goodview landed a new record 33 pound 4 ounce striper from Lake Gaston’s waters.

A 3 pound 14 ounce white bass from Smith Mountain Lake boosted D/. Max Fineman of Lynchburg to state record holder status and a state record 2 pound 4 ounce yellow perch was landed unexpectedly from New River by Richard Irvin of Roanoke. □
