judging by the 242 largemouth submission for freshwater fish citations during the first half of the year, the Game Commission’s Information- office reports.
The record number of largemouth bass over 8 pounds that were registered in the Commission’s citation program is nearly twice the number recorded during the first half of 1971.
Entries in most other categories increased also resulting in a record 728 freshwater fish submitted for citations during the 6 month period, more than were submitted during the whole year of 1970 and years previous.
Five new state records were established in the process. The largemouth bass record was broken twice culminating in a 14 pounder from Gaston taken by Paul Creggar of Hope
