COUNTRY MUSIC, no longer an isolated cult throbbing out of Nashville, has a growing legion of fans from red neck to long hair and a vast audience of in-betweens, all of them to be satisfied with the 22nd Annual National Championship Country Music Contest scheduled for-August 5-6 at Lake Whipporwill near Warrenton.
The pickin’ and singin’ goes on steadily all weekend, interspersed with big name entertainment — Don Gibson Saturday night, and the Stoneman Family on Sunday.
But perhaps some of the best music slips out of the tents and campers. Groups play for each other; a renowned performer, for his special fans. Camping is available for those who follow the “country tour.”
