TWO PERSONS connected with the Selective Service office in Rappahannock County will retire this month with a total of 39-1/2 years of service to the county. They are Mrs. Mary R. (Russie) Miller and Herbert Foster, both of Flint Hill.
Mrs. Miller has held the position of clerk for Local Board 102 since August 9, 1949. (She says she began work there as a “mere child.”
The changing scene has left Mrs. Miller without a job, for with the revision of the military service and all volunteer units, Selective Service officers are being consolidated.
The counties of Rappahannock, Clark, Warren, Shenandoah, Frederick, Page and the City of Winchester will be handled from the Front Royal office. It will be impossible to use all of the present staffs in the change.
