MR. MITCHELL HAS evidently just told the Ms. that she is sweet. Dennis the M (or pitcher with big ears) says: “Just spill a little root beer on Her sofa and you'll find out how SWEET she is.’’ If you want to find out how sweet a grandmother can be, just tell one of HER grandchildren to keep the newspaper together. WOW! I would like to know if there are ethics that apply to name-calling. The Book says if you say to your brother Raca, you are in danger of the council, if you say, Fool, you are in danger of hell. Sanford’s son asks his father why he calls him a dummy. His father replies: “Because you is a dummy, Dummy.’’ Now, when someone asks me why people say I am stupid, should I thank them for not recognizing the obvious or should I give them a Sanford type reply, such as: “Because I am stupid, Stupid.’’ Considering all the vast store of knowledge that exists, I humbly admit, I am stupid.
OLD MEMORIES WERE stirred the other day while mowing out on the mountainside. There were oodles of wild strawberries being crushed. I couldn t eat all of them, but I did let this little poem come back into my mind.
“Let us live while we may, while the road is merry, while flowers grow in a mass by the way. Let us stain our lips with the wild strawberry and waste our youth in a mad, glad holiday.”
Youth with its haunting memories, long, long ago. Did we think about the future? There was a Great Teacher, long before that, who taught His followers not to worry about tomorrow, “tomorrow would have worries of its own.
Consider this thought with me: If we live today at our highest potential will we not fit ourselves for that tomorrow—wherever it will be.
