Mrs. Betty Coates

to resign post

MRS. BETTY COATES OF SPERRYVILLE, member of the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors from Piedmont District, announced this week that she will tender her resignation from that seat effective August 1. Mrs. Coates, who has served ' in this capacity since October 1968, has accepted a position with the Fauquier County Public Schools System. Her work there as a speech pathologist will begin August 20. To fill her unexpired term, Judge R. V. Snead will make an appointment, to serve until the next election which is November of this year. Prior to the election, special provisions will be made for those seeking the office to file as candidates. Normally, persons wishing to have their name on a ballot for the November election would have been required to submit petitions by the past Tuesday.

Since the vacancy will not occur until August 1, special provisions must be made, according to Rappahannock County Circuit Court Judge R. V. Snead.
