STANDARDS relating to the assessment and taxation of property devoted to agricultural horticultural, forestry and open space use will be the subject of five public hearings scheduled during the last two weeks in June.
These hearings will be held jointly by the Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture and Commerce, S. Mason Carbaugh; the Director of the Commission of Outdoor Recreation, Rob R. Blackmore; and the Director of the Department of Conservation and Economic Development, Marvin M. Sutherland.
The hearing for this area is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Osbourn High School in Manassas.
The purpose of these joint public hearings is to “consider the adoption of uniform standards to be met in order for land to be classified as being devoted to agricultural, horticultural, forestry or open space use for purposes of special assessment according to such use.
“All interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard and to submit objections, amendments, evidence and arguments at these public hearings. . .”
