“TWO THOUSAND dollars is less than one third of a beginning teacher’s salary,” concluded Mrs. Jamieson.
Responded Newbill Miller: “It looks like we’re not talking about $500; we’re talking about the library. I’d like to see us restore the $500.”
Mrs. Betty Coates agreed, but she said the budget committee would have liked to have seen the library’s figures when it was working up the budget.
“I guess we didn’t think there was any question,” replied Mrs. Jamieson.
The problem, said Newbill Miller, is that “people all over the county have the false impression that the library has a lot of money.”
Mrs. Coates moved to restore the $500, the motion was seconded by J. R. Latham, and the vote was unanimous.
