Charles Byron Tanner, 86, of Wolftown, Madison County, died December 13, 1973 at his home after several years of declining health.
He was a son of the late Alfred Taylor and Octavia Carpenter Tanner of Haywood. He was a member of Rose Park Methodist Church at Wolftown.
Surviving with his wife, the former Neiie Dawson, are two daughters, Mrs. Christine Johnston of Washington, Va. and Mrs. Helen Willoughby ofUnionville; three sons, Hunter of Stanardsville, Roger of Charlottesville and Dawson of Wolftown; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was conducted by the Rev. Pettit Coffey on Saturday in the Fairview Christian Church CemeterV at Hood, Va.
Pallbearers were Harry Hood, Charlie Tanner, Lucian Shepard, Andrew Reams, Andrew Meade and Clifford Johnson.□
