A TOTAL of 430 people in the area served by the Winchester office have applied for supplemental security income payments, the Federal program starting in Januafy that will establish a nationally uniform income floor for people with little or no income who are 65 or over, or blind, or disabled.
Social security offices are taking applications now from people who aren’t getting State or local pi^blic assistance payments put who think they may be eligible for supplemental security income, according to Mrs. Hazel F. Crumpton, social security district manager in Winchester.
“People who aren’t getting State or local assistance payments should apply now for supplemental security income so their applications can. be processed before the program begins in January,’’ she said.
