A request by the Rappahannock Jaycees for use of a basketball court for games early next year and prior practice sessions was tentatively approved, but subject to change due to energy measures. A salary committee from the Rappahannock Education Association, headed by Richard Helmer, projected figures on the increasing cost of living and submitted a plan for consideration. Among items projected was compensation for teachers who direct extra school activities, such as coaching, after school clubs, plays, and related activities.
Norton advised the Board members that a Malaysian student had requested to be enrolled in the high school here for three months while he visited in this area. There would be no language problem and the relationship would have advantages, Norton thought, and the Board agreed to admit the student without tuition.
