MRS. ANNIE COOKE of “The Pines,” Amissville, has been named Christmas Seal Chairman for Rappahannock County by George L. Craig, Jr., president of the Virginia LungAssociattion, Northern Region.
In making the announcement, Craig noted this is the second year that Mrs. Cooke has been chairman. He added that the VLA, Northern Region was fortunate to have a chairman who has given so generously of her time and talent in spearheading the fight against TB, emphysema, and air pollution through Christmas Seals.
Mrs. Cooke is wellknown in Rappahannock County for she spent many years of her life in elementary school instruction and administration. Though she is retired from the teaching profession, she is on the move, busy with, community activities and traveling.
WHEN commenting on her participation in the Christmas Seal Campaign with the local area of the VLA (formerly the TB-RD Association of Northern Virginia), Mrs. Cooke said:
“Though Christmas Seals are now in their 65th year, they’re far from retirement. TB has been brought under control, but it’s still a major health threat. We still must find an effective cure for emphysema and there is still an uphill battle against air
