Rappahannock Forest Warden checks a research plot of black walnut trees planted near Flint Hill. The 5 year old trees are about 15 feet in height and are one of the best plots in the state as far as growth. Black walnut requires a good soil for good growth and test plots have been started all around Virginia and are checked for development.
