PLANNING District Executive Director Arthur Warren was not as skeptical as Luke and John B. Adams at Thursday’s meeting. “Work through the system” Warren advised, saying something about how everyone should be grateful the state lets localities, through regional planning, respond to proposed projects.
Luke was unconvinced, and went on to discribe how the Highway Department would divide a construction project “into bite size pieces a few miles long,” leaving gaps here and there. Then the completed sections would act as a “fulcrum” for the approval of the rest, said Luke.
WARRENTON Town Manager Ed Brower agreed, commenting about the number of “gaps” in the Highway’s plans for four-laning Route 17, although, he said, “the state told us the schedule.”
