“SO WE rented territory from the Rappahannock Hunt territory, rented or leased, mostly leased, and named it the Hazelmere Hunt. We had a nice club going there, the Hazelmere Hounds.
“Michael kept his hounds over on his place and I kept my hounds on my place. I furnished the huntsman and he furnished the whips and we worked the hounds together. They worked beautifully together® a fine pack, 15 and 18 couples.
“We charged no fee. Michael and I carried the whole hunt. It got very popular and we had quite a large following. We would never hunt on days when we would interfere with the Rappahannock Hunt and we never hunted in the same territory, of course.
“We did this for five or six years, until we dispersed, about 12 years ago, and turned our territory back over to the Rappahannock Hunt. They still work it.”
