Their talk ended with, “Things are in good shape but I’ll see you up there tomorrow to go over it.”
He returned to the talk. “Wit tells me I put up all the signs backward. I told him there were arrows on both sides, but he says they’re backward. Signs for general parking that is.”
“That thing isn’t on I hope,” he said, cutting his eyes at the tape recorder. He grinned, leaned over and said softly: “I’ve had to change the flags three times on the pair race course. I made a mistake.” He shook his head, amused at his fumbling the flags out on the course. Then he returned to his story.
