For low-income families, there is now a free plan to help pay high fuel bills caused by this winter’s cold weather. It’s called the Emergency Energy Assistance Program and it will pay up to $250 of a family’s outstanding fuel and utility bills. The program can also help with emergency furnace repairs, replacement of dangerous or broken heating units, and purchase of needed fuel. The emergency energy program is only available until the end of April, 1978, so if you think you might be eligible and you need help with unpaid fuel bills, delivery of fuel, furnace repairs or replacement, you should apply no later than April 21.
